Meet the Team

Our Superheros

Shitel Patel, MD

Shitel D. Patel, MD was raised in Florida for most of his life. He is board certified in both general surgery and plastic surgery. He graduated medical school from the University of South Florida in 2007 and then went on to complete his residency in General Surgery at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Virginia. He then went on to complete a three-year Plastic Surgery Residency at UT Houston in the heart of Houston’s bustling medical center. During this time, he was exposed to a large and multifaceted volume of all aspects of plastic surgery. This, along with talented mentors and Teachers, allowed him to hone his plastic surgery skills. Dr. Patel went on to further fortify his training by completing a Pediatric and Adult Craniofacial Plastic Surgery Fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas.

Training under multiple experts in the field has given Dr. Patel the ability to solve complex plastic surgery problems with ease, and he is able to apply his experience in craniofacial surgery to both reconstruction and trauma.  Treating children adds another dimension of intricacy, as time plays a factor. He is well versed in the latest advancements in pediatric plastic surgery and is able to balance the appropriate treatments for patient care. He has experience in many aspects of craniofacial surgery, including cleft lip and palate, facial traumatic injuries, and a comprehensive range of ear deformities. He treats all patients as he would his own family. His passion for creating better results for all patients is ingrained in his philosophy of care: treat the problems of today for the results of tomorrow.

Dr. Patel has published multiple articles in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Journal of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery. He has also presented at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and Texas Society for Plastic Surgery. During his training, he and his family developed a love for Houston. This, along with his desire to create a practice aligned with his ideals, led him to create Up Pediatric Plastic Surgery in 2016. He currently resides in Houston with his wife Bijal, daughter Sayoni, and sheltie Nacho. Dr. Patel's CV

Jacqueline Wegge, MD

Throughout her training, Dr. Wegge was fortunate to learn from many great mentors and experts on the forefront of trauma, cancer reconstruction, breast surgery and reconstruction, microsurgery, hand surgery, craniofacial surgery, and aesthetic surgery. She is board certified in both general surgery and plastic surgery. During her plastic surgery residency in Houston Texas, she was trained at Memorial Hermann hospital, one of the busiest trauma centers in the country, as well as MD Anderson, one of the foremost cancer centers in the world. As a result, she has a broad range of skills that make her ideally equipped to treat a wide variety of patients with even the most difficult problems. “Being a skilled plastic surgeon not only requires the vast knowledge of a scholar but the steady hand and the precise eye of an artist as well. The diversity of plastic surgery spans the entire human body, with the challenge of devising a plan for repairing or modifying those deformities which others have been unable to conquer. Additionally, it affords the opportunity to plan, sculpt, and create with a complexity that requires the physician to be able to imagine not only the immediate result but also take into account the final product months and years down the road.” It is a great honor for Dr. Wegge to form a long-lasting relationship with her patients and guide them along their journey.

I addition to her broad medical training, Dr. Wegge has also given presentations, written multiple chapters/articles, and has been involved in mission work. Dr. Wegge was lucky enough to be able to travel to El Salvador for the past two years in a row with the Austin Smiles plastic surgery foundation. She was part of a large team of medical professionals and volunteers that provided care for underserved patients from Central America. This included operations for patients in all phases of cleft care (cleft lip, cleft palate, speech surgery, rhinoplasty etc.) as well as other congenital anomalies like hemifacial microsomia. She found this to be a life-changing experience that has affected her overall views on medical care and further cemented her desire to provide every patient with compassion and personalized treatment. She plans to continue involvement in medical mission work as much as she is able.

Dr. Wegge is extremely excited and honored to be a part of Up Pediatric Plastic Surgery. She and Dr. Patel attended plastic surgery training together at the University of Texas Health Science Center, and also completed the same craniofacial fellowship program at the University of Texas Southwestern. Throughout, they were able to form a strong bond, as they found that they have matching ethics, ideals, and goals. They wanted to create a practice that they felt could provide the type of compassionate and meticulous medical and surgical care that their patients deserved. She has always held a special place in her heart for craniofacial surgery and the care of pediatric patients and feels greatly honored that she has the training to provide these services. She loves that she is able to make a lasting bond with her pediatric patients. It is not often in the medical field that you get the opportunity to care for a patient from birth to adulthood! Dr. Wegge has a strong history of medical problems within her own family. As a result, she understands what things are like from the patient’s point of view, and makes every effort to spend the time necessary to make her patients feel comfortable, safe, and well-informed about their medical treatment. Dr. Wegge provides total plastic and reconstructive surgery care, with an emphasis on pediatric plastic surgery, breast surgery, and cosmetic plastic surgery. She strives to provide natural results that restore her patient’s confidence.

Dr. Wegge lives in Houston with her husband Jon, a musician, and Golden Retriever “Chuck.” She is an avid chef, artist (see her work throughout the website), and singer. Dr. Wegge's CV

Erin Hill, Patient Care Coordinator

Erin developed a true passion for the medical field when she was first old enough to understand cancer.  Cancer affected many members of her family, and she sought out a way to help other individuals going through similar experiences.  She has a background in business and healthcare administration.  She has twelve years of experience working in healthcare, and loves the relationships she is able to build with her patients and their families.  She started her medical career working in a general practice office where she learned the basic principles of patient care and the ins and outs of insurance policies.  She then chose to pursue her degree in healthcare administration to obtain the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the world of insurance and help her patients get the best possible care. She loves her role as patient care coordinator at Lift Plastic Surgery.  The position allows her to utilize her extensive experience in interacting with each and every patient along the way and creating close relationships.  This is extremely important, as many of our patients at Lift require care for long periods of time.  Erin is an integral part of our practice.  With her warm and caring nature, and her constant motivation to go above and beyond, she is loved by all.  In the future, she would like to further her education and become a surgery tech so that she can take care of her patients both in and out of the operating room.

Erin currently lives in Dickinson with her husband and two children.  They are always on the go with multiple activities and sporting events.
